SCC - Smart Charging Community

Regensburg research project for the energy transition is funded with 2 million euros

"Smart Charging Community" - under this project name an adaptive energy management system that improves energy efficiency and integrates the electric mobility. The project is funded with two million euros by the Federal Ministry of Economics.

On the 6th of January 2014, the partners - six companies and two universities - met to the Kick Off in the IT-Speicher. Project coordinator is the E-Mobility Cluster Regensburg (formerly Network "Intelligent charging technology in the e-mobility (ILEM)") under the umbrella of R-Tech GmbH - a subsidiary of Regensburg and member of the Regensburger E-Mobility Cluster.

The intelligent energy management system of the future will consist of modules that monitor and manage the power produced and consumed in households and local network stations. Thus, both the efficiency and security of supply improve. The Energy Manager, installed in households, accesses for example to photovoltaic systems, mini and micro combined heat and power, energy storage and home charging stations for electric vehicles. Through an energy manager in the local substation, a connection to the energy company will be enabled.

The system to be developed binds next to the charging infrastructure and energy supply also electromobility within. "We contribute with this system to reduce the total cost of the energy revolution," says project coordinator Uwe Pfeil, manager of the E-Mobility Cluster Regensburg.
